FIREFLY RESEARCH
Trauma-informed yoga is an emerging field in Western Medicine, and Firefly Yoga International has a responsibility to contribute to the evidence base that is vital to informing future initiatives and improving existing ones. To this end, Firefly closely monitors and evaluates the impact of its trauma-informed yoga programs and trainings.

Self-Reported Data
All clients in the Firefly Program complete pre- and post-program evaluations to gather data on the impact of the Firefly Program on survivors of trauma. Information collected offered crucial insights into the unique needs of each population participating in the Firefly Program in trauma-informed yoga. Program successes, failures, and lessons learned were documented, and informed future Firefly initiatives and training curriculum. Firefly's program evaluations explore how trauma-informed yoga affects clients' PTSD, anxiety, and depression symptoms; mindfulness and self-regulation; and the burden of trauma on survivors' self, family, social groups, employers, and health care system. Results from Firefly's surveys indicate clients who participate in the Firefly Program experience decreased symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and improvements in mindfulness and self-regulation by the program's end.

Firefly Teacher Feedback
The yoga teachers who lead the Firefly Program receive ongoing support and guidance for the duration of their placement at each Program Site. Teacher feedback is vital in assessing and improving the Firefly Program and training curriculum for each client population served. At multiple stages of program implementation, the Firefly management team meets with Firefly Teachers to ascertain feedback, learn what supports are needed, and promote ongoing dialogue on how to improve programming. Yoga teachers and providers who participate in the Firefly Training in trauma-informed yoga are also asked to complete an evaluation of the training content, facilitators, and venue. Firefly closely considers this feedback in an effort to constantly strengthen the Firefly Training and make it a potent, powerful, intentional, and educational experience for each participant. |
