INTERN AT FIREFLY
Position Overview
The Firefly Intern will play a critical role by providing support for fundraising, outreach, communications and operations. As a member of a small team, the Firefly Intern will have the unique opportunity to actively participate in nonprofit administration and will gain valuable skills and knowledge, including: project planning and management, program design and implementation, fundraising, budget management, monitoring and evaluation, and research.
We are seeking individuals that can thrive with minimal supervision and those motivated to make a significant contribution to the organization by providing administrative and programmatic support to the Executive Director. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in entering the nonprofit sector, or for those aspiring to gain experience in and exposure to nonprofit management. The Firefly Intern will work both remotely and in-person (when possible) with the Executive Director.
Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the intern will be tailored to the skills, experience, background, and interest area of the candidate to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship, and to promote and encourage a meaningful internship experience. Duties of the Firefly Intern may include:

We require a minimum 4-month commitment, with a preferred 10 hour work week (hours per week are negotiable and work schedule is very flexible).

- Social media research and management (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Event coordination and logistics support
- Development support (donor/funder research, drafting donor briefs, proofing/editing grant applications, etc.)
- Research and updating existing literature reviews
- Updating and revising location-specific resource binders for Firefly Teachers
- Research potential program sites in the regions where we work
- Compile information on social entrepreneurs or professional membership organizations related to yoga, trauma, public health, etc.
- Provide additional administrative support to the Executive Director as needed
- Potential opportunity to serve as a guest blogger at www.fireflyyoga.org.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, social services, and/or a related field preferred
- Experience or strong interest in yoga and/or trauma a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a small team
- Strong interest or experience in nonprofit fundraising (development), communications, and/or budgeting/accounting a plus
- Flexibility and willingness to take on various tasks
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills (with the ability to effectively communicate with multiple audiences via telephone, email, and in-person)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required (particularly Word and Excel)
- Access to a laptop is required, and smartphone accessibility is preferred
